Funds will be donated to The Salvation Army’s Disaster Relief & Recovery Efforts

Boise, ID – November 1, 2012 – Albertsons Market stores companywide launched a two-week fundraising campaign to benefit The Salvation Army’s disaster relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast this week. Additionally, in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, CBS 11 is partnering with the Company and the Dallas Cowboys to further promote the campaign.

“Rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy will be one of the most expensive recovery efforts our nation has undertaken, and it should compel everyone to act and to give,” said Wayne Denningham, president of the Southern division of Albertsons Market. “Our customers and stores have always stepped up during times of need, regardless of what part of the world has been devastated. Over the last two years, our customers have helped us to raise tens of thousands of dollars to help people in need, and by partnering with The Salvation Army again, we know that the funds are going to go where they can do the most good.”

Said Major George Hood, National Community Relations and Development Secretary, The Salvation Army, “We understand that this will be a long-term response and recovery effort, and we will be there every step of the way for those in need, but we would not be able to do what we do if it were not for the generosity of the American public and our partners. We thank them for their generosity and pray that we will be able to meet all the widespread needs.”

To donate, customers can select a $1, $3 or $5 coupon from the Food for All board at each checkstand. The stores will be collecting for disaster relief through November 15, 2012.
