Diabetes Information Overload

A mind-boggling amount of information shows up around blogs and web pages about diabetes. It’s really tough to know who to believe and which source of information is accurate. There are a number of destinations for great information about diabetes, including right here at Albertsons Market.  All of our pharmacists are very knowledgeable about diabetes care and many of them have gone through extensive training to become diabetes care specialists. This past month we have been tweeting diabetes prevention tips in honor of American Diabetes Month.

If you think you are at risk for diabetes, go to the American Diabetes Association website at www.diabetes.org and take their risk assessment. If you score high on this assessment, it would be worth a visit to your primary care provider to follow up.

And if you’re in the mood for an actual real live human being (please say you are) then stop by one of our Albertsons Market Pharmacies that specializes in diabetes care. Our Diabetes Care Pharmacists have buckets of information and better yet, they are skilled at helping people put that information to good use. We can help with glucose testing, understanding lab reports, nutrition information, meal-planning ideas, exercise tips, insulin and medication questions, and a whole lot more!

The best part? Our services are completely FREE!

We don’t charge for any of it, but sometimes we ask that you make an appointment so that we can sit down together and have enough time to really accomplish something positive. All of this education and training is waiting for you. Just ask!

THANK you for offering this service to your local population. We have Meijer stores here in the midwest, but they charge for their consultations. You all ROCK! And, you’ll get more people into your stores by offering this.

I have referred someone I encountered on a diabetes support group who now has PREdiabetes. I hope she visits with you and gets some great guidance. If you have a dietitian available at any time, would you let me know so I can forward that info to her? I am a T1 X 44 years, but also a CDE. We’re all in this together.

I’m glad you’re enjoying our Diabetes Information courses, Joan, and that you’re able to recommend them to others. Could you please let me know your city and state so I can see if there is a dietician available for your friend to speak to? Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon! ~Marie
