Summer Grilling 101
May 19th, 2013
Want to take your grilling skills up a notch? Follow these 6 grilling tips from our very own Grill Master.
1. Marinate your meat.
To get the most flavors out of our steak, let it marinate for 3-4 hours, but for the BEST flavor, let it marinate over night.
2. Never put a cold steak on the grill.
Take the steak out of the fridge about an hour before throwing it on the grill. A cold steak will cool off the grill. The key to a perfect steak is cooking it at a high temperature for a short amount of time.
3. Cut against the grain.
You don’t want a long and stringy bite of meat. So when you cut against the grain of the muscle, you get hundreds of tiny fibers–instead of one long one.
4. Don’t be the guy/gal that CONSTANTLY flips the steak.
When you see moisture seeping from the top of the steak, then you flip and once you’ve flipped, cook it for half as much time on the other side.
5. Oil it up.
Even on a clean grill, food may stick when placed directly on the rack. Reduce sticking by oiling your hot grill rack with a vegetable oil-soaked paper towel.
6. Let it chill for a minute.
Let cooked meat rest for about 10 minutes before carving so juices can redistribute evenly.
