Inclement New Mexico Weather Forces Cancellation of Alhambra & Chula Vista Aug 2 Hatch Chile Roasting Events
Jul 30th, 2014
Attention Albertsons Hatch Chile fans, we’ve got disappointing news to share. Mother Nature has wreaked havoc with this year’s Hatch Chile crop. Over the last few days, New Mexico has been hit by severe thunderstorms, including hail. As a result, the Hatch Chile harvest has been delayed, and more importantly, farmers are waiting for clear skies in order to assess the damage to their crops.
I’m sure many of you have been counting the weeks leading up to the moment you can secure your supply of roasted Hatch Chile, and we are sincerely sorry to have to be the ones to share such disappointing news.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted to continue through the end of week. For the moment, we’re staying optimistic for the remaining Albertsons Bakersfield, La Habra, Rancho Cucamonga, Arcadia, Costa Mesa, Carpinteria, Reseda, Montebello, Temecula and Escondido store sale events scheduled for August and Sept.
Albertsons Produce team will provide us with updates and we’ll post the information, should it change. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the weather in New Mexico is favorable this week so farmers can come through with a good supply for all Hatch Chile enthusiasts.
