Join the Biggest Baby Shower in Idaho – It’s Community Baby Shower!
Jun 15th, 2015
Do you know a young mother or family in need of support? Community Baby Shower is here to help.
Michelle Edmonds of Today’s 6 and FOX 9 started Community Baby Shower while she was pregnant with her second child. She saw a need to help young mothers and families get a jump-start on parenting, and decided that it was time to do something about it. That’s when she called in a few local non-profits to help educate and create awareness within the community. Nine years later, Community Baby Shower is bigger than ever.
Last year, Idaho stepped up and donated more than 1,000 packages of diapers, over 800 boxes of wipes, sets of new clothing, blankets and formula. The biggest need this year is diapers, wipes and formula, but other donations can include new clothing, baby care products, and of course, monetary contributions.
Donations can be dropped off at or purchased from Albertsons stores in Southern Idaho, all the way from Ontario and Payette to Mountain Home and Twin Falls.
New this year, when you follow @Albertsons on Twitter and create a post using hashtag #IdahoBabies, Albertsons will contribute $10 per post, up to our goal of $2,000 per charity. That’s a total of $8,000 for Community Baby Shower, all because of your involvement!
The four non-profit organizations involved are: Catholic Charities of Idaho, BabySteps, Marian Pritchett School, and Baby Haven. All four of these groups have a passion for helping mothers through incentive-based programs. Parents will set goals to promote healthy families while they attend classes, educational readings, doctor visits, etc., and then are rewarded with baby supplies through the organizations.
“We couldn’t do this without the community. It takes all of us to pull together and make sure our youngest Idahoans are having a healthy, happy, safe start in life,” said Michelle Edmonds. Let’s help Idaho mothers and babies build the foundation that they need and deserve. Even the smallest of donations could change a life today.
