Mar 28th, 2017
For nearly a century, City of Hope has been a model for scientific discovery and compassionate care for those facing cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

John Cloer was just shy of his third birthday when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Today, at age 15, he’s cancer-free and thriving. “Without City of Hope’s amazing and caring doctors and nurses, we could have lost John, ” says Bill Cloer, John’s dad.
“Being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2011, at the age of 8, was a lot to take in. Being this young, I didn’t want to die because of all the ambitions I had in life to fulfill. Through City of Hope’s treatment, doctors and nurses to help me throughout my entire journey, as well as of course, my parents, friends and siblings, I was able to make it out alive and healthier than ever. Before being diagnosed I wanted to be president, but after going through this obstacle in my life, I realized that I want to give back and become a pediatric oncologist so that I can truly empathize with each and every patient. ” – Anya Shah
