Immunization Factoids

Did you know…..

  • The recommendations for getting vaccinations are reviewed and updated annually by the Center for Disease Control based on new evidence gathered.
  • Adults don’t usually have symptoms from whooping cough, but they can carry the bacterial infection and transmit it to unprotected infants and children.
  • It is recommended that all adults who smoke should have a preventative pneumococcal vaccination. Smoking increases the chances of getting pneumonia.
  • Once a person has been exposed to chicken pox, they carry the virus in their system for the rest of their lives. Sometimes it becomes active again and that person develops shingles.
