  • Preheat the oven to 425°. Butter an ovenproof casserole with sides at least 1-in high, large enough to hold 6 apples.
  • Combine the water and bourbon in a small bowl, and soak all the raisins in the liquid for 2 to 3 hours, until plump. Stuff the raisins into the apples.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan, stir in the flour, and cook gently for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, and stir in the brown sugar and vanilla. Spread the sugar mixture over the top of the apples. Place the apples in the prepared casserole, and bake at 425° until a crust is set on top, about 20 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 350°and bake until the apples are tender, about 30 minutes more.
  • Serve with brandy-flavored whipped cream, or with ice cream.
