Barbecued Clams

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 450°F. Sautee the onion in the oil. Combine sauce ingredients and let stand at least 1 hour.
Bake the clams on a baking sheet 2 to 3 minutes, until they open. Remove from oven.
Prepare a grill or a broiler. With the point of a sharp knife, remove the top shell from each clam. Replace the clams in the bottom shells on the baking sheet; top each with 1/2 teaspoon barbecue sauce.
Grill each clam over coals about 3 minutes; in the broiler, heat 2 to 3 minutes, taking care not to burn the clams.
