Apple Crisp

DIRECTIONS
The apples.
Quarter, core, peel, and slice the apples; toss in a large mixing bowl with the lemon juice and the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
The streusel crisp.
Process the flour, sugar, salt, and butter in the machine with several on-off pulses, only until the mixture looks like coarse meal. Add the oat flakes and pulse in with 2 or 3 flicks, to break them up roughly.
Assembling.
Spread half the streusel in the bottom of the buttered baking dish, turn in the sliced apples and their accumulated juices, and cover with the remaining streusel.
Baking - about 1 hour at 350°F.
Bake, covered, in the middle level of the preheated oven until the apples are slowly bubbling - about 20 minutes. Uncover and continue baking, until a knife point goes into them very easily. The streusel topping will have browned lightly.
Serving.
Serve warm or cold just as it is, or with ice cream, sour cream, whipped cream, or custard sauce.
