  • Blend the meats. Melt the butter in a heavy skillet and when bubbling add the onion and garlic and sauté lightly. Add the meats and cook 3 or 4 minutes, blending and stirring. Add the water and salt and pepper to taste. Remove from the heat.
  • Roll out half the pastry to make a bottom crust. Arrange it in the pie tin with a little overhang. Fill with the meat mixture and cover with the rolled-out top crust. Press the edges of the crust together and flute them with your fingers. Cut two vents in the top crust. Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes. If it is not cooked at that time, reduce the heat to 325°F and bake until light brown. This may be eaten hot, but it is much better cold with pickles and beer.
