DIRECTIONS
Bring the milk to a boil in a large saucepan. Stir in the cornmeal and cook until very thick, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. The mixture will be very stiff.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Butter two 1-quart casseroles.
Add the egg, salt, baking powder, and melted butter to the grits. Beat with an electric mixer for 15 minutes.
Pour into the prepared casseroles and bake for 30 minutes.
