White Fruit Cake

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350°.
Have all ingredients about 70°. Sift before measuring: 4 cups all-purpose flour
Mix 1/2 cup of the sifted flour with nuts and fruits:
1 cup chopped nutmeats, preferably blanched, slivered almonds
1/2 cup finely sliced citron, candied orange or lemon peel
1 cup white raisins
1/4 cup chopped candied pineapple
1/4 cup chopped candied cherries
(1/2 cup finely shredded coconut)
Resift the remainder of the flour with: 1 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Cream until light: 3/4 cup butter
Then cream it with: 2 cups sugar
Beat in, one at a time: 5 eggs
Add: 1 teaspoon vanilla
and continue to beat until light. Stir the flour mixture into the egg mixture and continue beating until thoroughly mixed. Fold in the reserved floured nuts and fruits. Pour into 2 loaf pans. Bake about 1 hour.
