Yolk Letter Cookies

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  • Beat until soft: 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Add gradually and blend until creamy: 1 cup sifted sugar
  • Add: 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Beat in: 8 egg yolks
  • Stir in: 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • Chill the dough 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Roll the dough into sticks 1/4 inch in diameter. Shape these into letters. Brush them with: Yolk of an egg
  • Sprinkle with: Colored or white sugar
  • Bake on a greased cookie sheet 6 to 8 minutes.
