DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder and sift into a large bowl.
  • Drop the cubes of butter into the flour mixture and blend gently with the fingers until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • Sprinkle the sugar over the mixture and add the eggs. Mix gently with the hands until well combined (do not overwork). Continuing to use the hands, blend in enough milk to make a soft but not sticky dough.
  • Pat the dough onto a floured surface to form a square 1 inch thick. Cut the dough into small triangles (the base of each should be about 2 inches long). Bake on an ungreased baking sheet for 18 minutes.
