DIRECTIONS
For The French Toast: In a medium bowl, use a wire whisk to beat together the egg whites, eggs, milk, 1-1/2 tsp brown sugar and vanilla.
Pour half the egg mixture into an 8" x 8" baking pan or plastic container. Then place the bread slices in the pan in a single layer. Pour the remaining egg mixture on top. Cover and refrigerate for 3 to 8 hours.
Preheat the oven to 350°. Coat an 8" x 8" baking dish or shallow casserole with no-stick spray and set aside.
For The Praline Topping: Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, stir together the 1/4 cup brown sugar, syrup and butter. Heat until the butter is melted. Stir in the pecans. Then spread the mixture on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Carefully transfer the soaked bread slices to the baking dish, placing them on top of the nut mixture in a single layer. Pour any of the remaining egg mixture over the bread.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until set and very lightly browned. Let stand about 10 minutes before cutting. Cut into pieces to serve.
