Asparagus, Fresh Tomatoes, and Cream

DIRECTIONS
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, following the manufacturer's suggested cooking time.
As soon as the pasta starts cooking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and asparagus and sauté about 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, sugar, and tarragon, reduce the heat, and continue cooking until the asparagus is tender-crisp and the pan juices have thickened slightly, 3 to 4 minutes more.
Stir in the cream, raise the heat slightly, and simmer until the sauce has thickened again, 1 to 2 minutes more. Season to taste with salt and white pepper.
As soon as the pasta is done, drain it and toss with the sauce. Serve immediately.
