Spiced Orange Slices

DIRECTIONS
Cut the oranges in 1/4-inch slices and remove the seeds. Put in a pot, cover with water, simmer for 30 minutes, and drain. In another saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients and boil for 5 minutes. Cook the orange slices in the syrup in batches, so that each batch of slices is completely covered by the syrup. Remove the slices when they are clear, after about 30 minutes. Cover the cooked slices with the syrup and let stand overnight. Drain the slices and cook the syrup separately until it is thick. Add the orange slices and heat to the boiling point. Pour into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
