DIRECTIONS

  • Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium mixing bowl. Add the flour mixture, alternating with the cream and beating after each addition until smooth. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and pour it on one of the halves of dough. Chill both rolls of dough for 1 hour.
  • In a separate medium mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk.
  • Add the flour mixture, alternating with the cream and beating after each addition until smooth. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and pour it on one of the halves of dough. Chill both rolls of dough for 1 hour.
  • Roll each half on a lightly floured board into a rectangular sheet about 1/8-inch thick). Placing the chocolate sheet on top of the plain sheet, roll them up together like a jelly roll. Chill the roll for 12 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400° F. Cut the dough into 1/8-inch thick slices and place them, spaced 1-1/2 inches apart on nonstick cookie sheets. Bake for 6 minutes.
