Apricot Nut Bread

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 325°. Grease one loaf pan.
Dice the apricots into 1/4-in pieces. Combine the apricots and the orange juice in a small saucepan, and cook over moderately low heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking 5 minutes. Then remove the pan from the heat, and allow the mixture to cool.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the egg and milk, and mix until well blended. Stir in the bran, orange peel, apricot mixture, and nuts, mixing well.
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Add the dry ingredients to the apricot mixture, and stir until thoroughly moistened.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, and bake at 325° for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
