Asian-Style Short Ribs
Sweet, savory and spicy, these braised short ribs are melt-in-your-mouth tender. Serve along with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes—a creative counterpoint with a distinctive kick.

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmery. Add four of the ribs; cook on each side until well-browned. Transfer browned ribs to a large Dutch oven; repeat with remaining ribs.
Combine soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, onions, ginger and orange peel. Pour mixture over the ribs.
Cover the Dutch oven; bake ribs in the preheated oven for about 2 ½ hours, or until the ribs are tender. Remove ribs from the liquid, transfer to a platter and cover with foil. Transfer braising liquid to a medium saucepan; cook, while stirring, over high heat until mixture is reduced to about ½ cup.
Add hoisin sauce, wine, brown sugar, orange juice and hot pepper sauce; whisk well. Return ribs to Dutch oven; coat with sauce. Return ribs to oven; bake, uncovered, for 10 to 15 minutes, or until hot and glazed.
Serve with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes.
