Backyard Hammock

Memorial Day is considered to be, for many, the kick off of the summer season!  The weather gets warmer, the flowers are in full bloom, and it’s the time of year we all want to get outside and soak it all in.  So why are you slaving away in the kitchen and still eating inside?  Why not take advantage of the weather and bring that meal outside?!

Make it a Picnic!

Grab a blanket, some simple finger food, gather up the kids, and enjoy the sunset together from the comfort of your back yard!  Grab some vegetables, sandwiches and fruit like grapes or blueberries.  Sit around til the sun goes down and the stars come out – it’s a perfect way to spend a warm, summer evening.

Make it a Date Night

Turn your patio into your own little cafe! Have lights hung up, a bottle of wine ready and a simple, tasty meal to share with your S.O.

Keep it super simple and try something like this:

Weekend Movie Nights!

Hang up a sheet, grab pillows, blankets & the popcorn, and get outside for your movie night!

Keep It Simple

In keeping with the theme of “simplicity,” don’t use silverware or dish ware that can get broken or lost in your yard until your lawn mower finds it a few days later (yuck!).  Paper plates, finger foods and picnic plastic-ware are the way to go for your summertime meals!

Whether you make it a weekly tradition or a special occasion, summer is coming and your back yard is calling!  Enjoy it.

Now tell us what your favorite back yard activity in the summer in the comments below!
