Chips and Salsa

Sidekick no more! Salsa’s 15 minutes of fame are long overdue and we think it’s time to shine the spotlight on this tasty and refreshing treat. With spring in full affect, now is the perfect time to rediscover and reinvent salsa, as we know it. Filled with valuable nutrients and delicious flavors, salsa will add an exciting flare and color to any dish.

Mix it Up

Are you feeling daring? Switch up your salsa style and substitute different vegetables like corn and cucumber. Try fruits like mango and pineapple for an even fresher flavor. Give our Blackberry Citrus Salsa a whirl for a fruity springtime snack!

Spice it up

The Pineapple Jicama Salsa is a unique combination of sweet and spicy. This recipe kicks a punch with jalapeno and lime juice that can be adjusted to taste. In just 10 minutes you can have a spicy salsa to be used as a dip, a spread or a garnish.

Back to Basics
We aren’t saying out with the old quite yet. Who doesn’t still love the taste of the classic tomato-based salsa? Put a new spin on this Mexican food staple with our Roasted Garlic and Tomato Salsa recipe.

Want even more? Consider non-traditional ways to sneak salsa into your meals or snacks. Here are 10 fresh and super simple ways to use salsa (homemade or store-bought) any day of the week.

  • Top a crostini or bruschetta with salsa to soften up the crispy bread like we have done with the Mango Avocado Salsa below.
  • Slather salsa on chicken or fish before or after it hits the grill for a flavorful marinade.
  • Spread it on burgers or chicken sandwiches instead of the usual condiments.
  • Pair some salsa with olive oil for a dressing to top your favorite salad.
  • Replace generic pizza sauce with a flavorful salsa.
  • Mix a bit of salsa with yogurt or cottage cheese for a more flavorful breakfast.
  • Dress up your baked, roasted or fried potatoes with a layer of salsa.
  • Mash salsa together with light margarine or whipped butter for a tasty rub to be used on roasted or grilled meats.
  • Garnish Mexican-style dishes like tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, etc. with salsa for a more classic approach.
  • When in doubt, crack open a bag of tortilla chips and dip away!
