West, TX Disaster Relief

Albertsons & Customers Together Donate $100,000 to West, Texas Disaster Relief; Announce Campaign to Raise Funds for Texas Tornadoes

FORT WORTH, Texas, — May 17, 2013 — Albertsons Market today announced the in-store donation campaign that enabled customers across the South and Southwest to support the disaster relief efforts for the plant explosion in West, Texas raised over $76,000, and the Company has included an additional $24,000 from their disaster relief funds, making the total donation $100,000.

“The spirit of giving in our stores is both humbling and inspiring,” said Mike Withers, president, Albertsons Southern division. “I’m proud that our stores can enable customers to generously give to disaster relief causes like this so quickly. Over the last three years our stores have raised over $300,000 for various disaster relief efforts, which has enabled The Salvation Army throughout different areas of the country to provide for the ongoing needs of those families who have long recovery roads. It’s a great feeling to be part of this generous community of associates and customers.”

Following the devastating tornadoes this week in North Texas, Albertsons Market stores across seven southern US states will again offer customers the opportunity to donate to help those in need.  The Texas Tornado campaign will run through the first part of June, and benefit The Salvation Army’s Disaster Relief efforts.

Hi Loraine – we have donated to Colorado wildfire relief as well. Last year when there were fires in Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, we ran a register campaign that collected several thousand dollars that helped with recovery. We did a press release about this particular one because of all the partners who pitched in to help. Thanks for your comment! ~Christine
