Albertsons LLC to Celebrate Grand Opening of New San Luis Obispo Store June 26

Premium choice beef cut fresh daily, an in-store Starbucks, and local products make this new SLO store a celebration destination.

FULLERTON, CA (June 19, 2013) – San Luis Obispo residents, you’re in for something fresh™ as Albertsons LLC’s Southern California Division puts the final touches on their new 1321 Johnson Ave. store location that’s ready to celebrate with a grand opening set for Wednesday, June 26, at 10 a.m.

More Food Choices and Offerings

“The new San Luis Obispo Albertsons is your neighborhood grocery store,” emphasizes Store Director Steve Sistler.  “Shoppers will see our focus on fresh with a dash of local flavor in each of the departments.”

Indeed, from the seafood to the produce department, the bakery and even floral, customers will recognize a number of favorite, local products from throughout the coast, like Central Coast Seafood, Cayucos Oranges, Cal Poly Eggs and favorite local wineries, just to name a few. Whether it’s to pick up a quick lunch at the store’s fresh salad or Sushi Bar or to plan a grander affair, shoppers will discover an abundance of organic, natural and gluten free products throughout the store.

For guests looking to make the most of their outdoor BBQ celebrations with summer favorites like beef, Albertsons Butcher Block is a priority destination for USDA Choice premium beef.  This prestigious USDA Choice label is reserved only for the most tender cuts of beef that meet the most rigorous standards and is available at all Albertsons stores.

Located in the heart of wine country, Albertsons San Luis Obispo customers can also look forward to enjoying seasonal wine, beer and spirit tasting in-store events.

Albertsons was built upon the foundation of giving back to the communities it serves and is proud to continue the tradition with this grand opening.  In celebration, Sistler and his team will make donations to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo and the Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County.

Grand opening festivities will continue on Sat., June 29th, when the store team hosts Customer Appreciation Day featuring local growers and vendors offering a variety of great in-store samples, games, entertainment, free giveaways and prizes.

The Johnson Ave. San Luis Obispo store will be open to serve the community Monday through Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.  To arrange for a media tour, contact Lilia Rodriguez, communications/public affairs manager at 714.300.6438 (office) or 714.306.5408 (cell).

I love that you kept to the same basic floor plan of the previous market. Got a lot more groceries today than I expected to do. Have only one comment to make and that has to do with the lighting. Some years ago a university came out with a study that clearly demonstrated overly bright fluorescent lighting makes older people dizzy and confused. I know you don’t have that kind of lighting but what you have is far stronger than what we got used to as Scolari’s store. Now I can see the lower lights made the store feel far more neighborly and welcoming. I hope you can turn off about half of what you have now as I’m one of those who thrive on the homey kind of lighting. I also spend more time in the store buying groceries instead of grabbing and running.

I’m glad that you enjoy the layout of our new store, Barbara! I’ll let the Store Director know that you’d like it if the lights were turned down for a more homey atomosphere. Thanks for your feedback and for shopping at Albertsons! ~Marie

How about a new store in Shelby, Montana?
The current building is in great need of replacement. If your company were to purchase the lot to the east currently owned by: CRYAN LLC (300 Main Street), you could build new on that lot and later destroy the old building and update parking lot area as well.

How about building a new store in Shelby, MT. The old building is in desperate need of replacement. The aisles are so narrow in the meat and dairy areas that only one cart can navigate through at a time. The bakery/deli is nearly as challenging. If the check out lines have more than two carts at a time, you have to push to the back of the store in order to get around.
There is no pharmacy, there are no bulk items, and there is no health food section. Shelby, MT really needs a new store.

Thanks for your feedback about the current Shelby Albertsons and the need for a new location, Leigh. I have passed along your request to our Real Estate Team for consideration. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day. ~Marie

As a ex-Albertsons manager it is great to see a “NEW” Albertsons opening and not a store “closing. Good Luck Albertsons LLC
