The Arizona Cardinals Football Club and Albertsons-Safeway visited Herrera Elementary School in Phoenix to culminate their back-to-school drive on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Former Cardinals wide receiver Frank Sanders, Cardinals Cheerleaders and team mascot Big Red surprised students at the school with a $5,000 check, 650 Cardinals backpacks, and $10,000 worth of school supplies from Albertsons-Safeway.

In addition, Albertsons-Safeway is also presenting the Salvation Army with a $10,000 check, which will partially go toward scholarships for students to participate in Calais Campbell’s after school program at the Salvation Army.

The Cardinals and Albertsons-Safeway partnered to collect new school supplies and donations in August for needy schools. Albertsons-Safeway matched each donation up to $5,000 during the drive.

Could you please tell me the process to become a grantee of Albertsons. I am the grantwriter for a nonprofit org in Phoenix, providing two-generation education to preschoolers and their parents with a focus on English language literacy.
