Hitting the Road? Check Out These Games!

Aug 20th, 2014

It’s road trip season! Pack the car, grab the family and head out on the road less traveled! Now, we just need to keep you sane as you travel from destination to destination.

We all know each destination is magical and filled with family fun, but sometimes it’s the journey that is less than ideal. If you’re looking to keep the kids entertained and limit the amount of screen time they have in the car check out some of the fun activities below.

And don’t forget about the song that never ends! This will keep the kids entertained for hours!

The Song That Never Ends

This is the song that never ends.
It goes on and on my friends.
Someone started singing it not knowing what it was,
and they’ll continue singing it forever just because.

(Then repeat back at top)

Activity Countdown Paper Chain

Every 30 minutes or hour the kids get to take a ring off the chain. Each ring has an activity inside. Get creative! Get instructions here.

Travel Map

Are we there yet? Everyone loves seeing where they’re going and if they can track the progress even better! Laminate a map and get some dry erase pens. You can even throw in a geography lesson! Get instructions here.

License Plate Game

We’ve got a classic here for you! What’s even better is that we have a great printable board that will make it easier for the kids to recognize all the state plates! Get a printable card here.

Homemade Gak

This isn’t messy and it won’t get everywhere, we promise! Break out a cookie tray for a hard surface to play on and the kids will be entertained for a long time! Get instructions here.

Eye Spy

Read through the list and keep it on hand the entire car trip! The kids can keep going back to it in between activities until as many items as they could find are checked off! Get instructions here

While the kids are busy with their activities mom and dad need some fun up front. Print out this questionnaire and get to know each other a little better. Get the printable questionnaire here.
