I love the holiday season especially when gathered around the table with food and family!  And with Thanksgiving often at my house I’m always looking for ways to cut down on prep time so all my time isn’t spent cooking.  I have to say that I am absolutely in love with the Fresh Cuts options in the produce section of Albertson’s.   With all of the veggie chopping and prep work done for you – cooking really can be simple! Being organized and planning ahead are the best tips I have learned through the years to get it all accomplished for the big ‘Turkey Day.’ And although much fuss is made about the big bird, my family will tell you that the holidays are not complete without our favorite side dishes and dessert. I like choosing recipes that I can make and freeze ahead of time to cut down on the hectic Thanksgiving Day ‘To-Do’ list. When making your shopping list buy all canned goods, non-perishable and frozen foods in advance, saving the fresh ingredients for last, and in turn lessening your last minute load. I admit I overeat every holiday, however, with this selection of trim & terrific recipes and tips, there is zero stress and the only thing stuffed at your home will be the turkey. 

  • Casseroles and dressings, along with quick breads and cakes freeze beautifully, helping keep work to a minimum on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Take advantage of the excellent time saver option in the Fresh Cuts produce section for fast flavor and extra ease.
  • Sweet potatoes, or yams, should not be refrigerated unless cooked.
  • Did you know that pecans contain the highest amount of antioxidants over any other nut?  They’re rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and a great source of plant protein!
  • When you are running out of oven space, select a hearty wild rice side dish since it is prepared on the stovetop. 
  • Cranberry season is now, and they are readily available in supermarkets so stock up as they can be kept frozen for up to a year.
