Life-Changing Moment for Monopoly $10,000 Winner

Monopoly at Albertsons can change lives. Friday, March 20, 2015 was the day that Diana Vasquez’s life and the life of her children changed forever because she shopped, played, and won.

One Fateful Friday

Flash back one week prior to that life-changing day, Diana Vasquez, an Arizona native from Phoenix, came into an Albertsons store in Chandler, Arizona trembling with excitement. Diana had just been confirmed a winner of $10,000 by playing Monopoly at Albertsons — a companywide game where customers can play to win over $80,000,000 in prizes and money-saving offers.

I Feel Awesome

Now, back to that fateful Friday morning when Diana came to pick up her $10,000 check. Diana came into the Chandler store where she has one week earlier declared her winnings smiling from ear to ear. “I feel awesome! Free money! Who wouldn’t feel good right now,” she exclaimed.

Money That Makes a Difference

Diana has two autistic children. Autism, a neurodevelopment disorder that affects social interaction, as well as verbal and non-verbal communication, affects 1 in 68 children in the U.S. “I’ll use the money for speech therapy for my kids since they are both autistic. I’ll save the rest.”

Well Played

We are thrilled to award customers for winning prizes by playing Monopoly, but we get ecstatic to see the joy and difference it can bring into their lives — and into the lives of those they love.

More people are in need in 2015 than ever before. I am so happy for her.

Monopoly at Albertson’s is the biggest fraud ever. She is probably the only winner so far. I buy at Albertson’s almost every day and yet haven’t won a $5 grocery gift card. Very disappointed,. Last Cuisinart promotion I took 5 different size pans home….

It’s a game of chance, it doesn’t say everyone will win, it’s a game, some win some lose, I’m one stamp away from that tesla and I’m keeping my fingers crossed till the end, but I must say missing stamp come my way, it’s an order! I want that car!!!

I am 1 ticket from all prizes…. but that is what it will still be when game is over.

There are no losers n this game. Just winners and others.

Congratulations Diana!!! I have a special-needs eight-year-old son who helps shop at Albertson’s (just to buy for Monopoly tickets). After multiple shopping trips and opening over 100 tickets, just like Jean above, we are only 1 ticket away from all categories (on 3 boards), and have only won a 5$ card, and a few extra tickets. Shane has given up

    • Customer Care 23/04/2015 at 7:05 pm

Hi Tomo, I’m sorry that Shane has given up. Ticket distribution is random, and there are still some prizes left to be claimed; including the big prize. If you continue to play, good luck. ~Liralen

I have winning tickets to redeem, 10 of them each for “2 tickets each”, but no Albertson’s store has any more tickets and they have been out for about 2 weeks. I hope there is a lawsuit. “Running out” is not acceptable.

I received over 200 game pieces FOR FREE while shopping. I haven’t won anything yet. simply not winning doesn’t classify me as a loser it just means my lucky day hasn’t arrived. Lawsuits? Fraud? Nobody forced you to play the FREE game. this article was heart warming and showed some good honest responsible people still exist. you all showed that for ever selfless good person there are two selfish morons out there. im embarrassed to be part of this post. geez

Nice to hear a feel good story and to see the person that was blessed with such a prize. I am an employee – and play for the excitement. Have not won any prizes from the board – but keeping fingers crossed. Have enjoyed the free vendor products – bonus. Thank you Albertson’s/Safeway.
