Why Organic?

Forget what you may have heard; natural and organic foods have the same great taste as brands your family already enjoys.  The only difference?  It’s healthier and free from preservatives and manufactured additives.

Organic Education

“Organic” refers to the way farmers grow and process agricultural products.  The US Department of Agriculture has established an organic certification program that requires organic goods to meet strict agricultural standards.

Organic foods are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, growth hormones, artificial flavors or colors.  Organic farming practices are designed to encourage soil and water conservation and reduce pollution.  They’re better for you, your family and the planet!

Natural v. Organic

I’ve noticed our local Albertson’s has almost all of the Wild Harvest products on clearance. Does this mean a even more limited selection of organic products at our store?

Hi Russ, let me know which location you shop at, and I will look into this for you. Thanks. ~Liralen

I make a special trip to Albertson’s on Dixie Drive near ZIP 84770 for Wild Harvest Organic Lemonade as it is my favorite of the organic lemonades. It was not in the store the last two times in the past month. Only Wild Harvest Apple Juice was there. Has it been discontinued?

Hi Karen, great news! We do have plans on bringing the Wild Harvest Organic Lemonade back to our stores. It will take up to a month or so before the stores will have it on the shelves. Enjoy!. ~Faith.

I realize there’s a market for these products, but I am still surprised at how much seems to be invested in organics lately. Whether a chemical is synthetic or naturally derived tells consumers nothing about its relative toxicity or environmental impact since the biological activity of a molecule is determined by its functional group(s) and structure, not its origin.
The organic pesticide spinosad doesn’t degrade a couple of feet below the surface, is toxic to earthworms and mollusks, and to top it off has to be applied more often as it’s less effective than conventional counterparts leading to more CO2 emissions as a whole (fresh applications are also toxic to bees). Organic copper sulfates persist in soils and are known to be highly toxic to crustaceans and other aquatic life if runoff occurs.
What is Albertsons doing to ensure they support true sustainability with such a high increase of organic produce and products?

    • Customer Care 29/09/2015 at 1:08 pm

When sourcing products, whether organic or conventional, we strive to purchase goods and materials that reflect fiscal responsibility, social equity and environmental stewardship. We encourage growers and manufacturers of our organic produce and products to leverage practices that have a lesser or reduced impact on the environment while promoting local agriculture, supporting food security, conserving water resources, protecting climate and ecosystems and supporting sustainable logistics.

I was an occasional Albertsons shopper until you rolled out your huge selection of Organics. Now I rarely go to the other stores. Everything I want is at Albertsons. Your organic produce is so amazing and delicious.
    Thank you so very much.
I would recommend one more addition to your store. Organic bulk bins with nuts and mixes.

I don’t go to Albertson’s for many reasons. The horrible website is only one of them. I just want to know if the Albertson’s near me carries peppermint tea as it is on the way home for my husband. But instead of seeing the items available at Albertson’s I get outdated information about Organics that I couldn’t care less about. Take a peek at Kroger’s superior website and you’ll see why it’s Clicklist for me every week.
