Pinot Noir, Diane's Block, Santa Cruz Mountains, 2009
All estate, all gravity, all the time. Planted in an old apple orchard 600 feet above the Monterey Bay, the Klein Family Vineyard is perfectly suited to Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyard's hand-tended five acres near the southern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation, enjoy long hours of temperate sunshine during the critical growing season. The vines are cooled in the evenings by the coastal summer fog - maximizing all important hang time - enabling the fruit to develop exceptional intensity. A perfect blending of terroir, climate, and personal attention gives Windy Oaks Pinot Noir a complexity not usually found in Pinot Noirs outside France. A hands-on approach and attention to detail in grape growing carry through to the winemaking process, which uses classical Burgundian techniques, with minimal intervention - using only gravity and without filtering or fining. We hope you'll agree that the result of this process is unique Pinot Noir that fully expresses its terroir. Unfiltered and unfined. www.WindyOaksEstate.com. Alc. 13.9% by vol. Estate grown, produced and bottled by Windy Oaks Estate. Corralitos, California.
