Directions 50 minutes from stovetop to table! Serves 4. Rich & Robust with/without the topping of French bread & cheese. You Will Also Need: 3 tbsp butter, 1 large sweet onion, 6 cups canned beef broth, 1/2 cup apple cider or apple juice, 1-2 tbsp Worcestershire. Optional Topping: 8 oz shredded Gruyere cheese, 4-6 slices French Bread toasted, or 2 cups croutons. Here's What You Do: Peel onion and cut into quarters, then cross cut quarters to form narrow semi-circle slices. In a 4-quart pot melt butter and saute onion 10 minutes, or to caramelize onion, add 1 tsp sugar and continue to cook to a golden brown an extra 10 minutes. Add contents of soup mix and stir 30 seconds. Add broth, apple cider and Worcestershire. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook on low 45 minutes and serve!
