Directions
To make easy drop scones you will need: 6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into pats; 1 large egg; 1/3 cup milk. 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment. 2. Blend mix and butter together until crumbly. 3. Whisk egg and milk and add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. 4. Scoop dough onto baking sheet, using about 1/3 cup for each scone. Leave 2 inch between them. 5. Bake in upper third of oven for 14 to 16 minutes, until they're a light golden brown. Remove from oven, wait 5 minutes, and serve warm. Yield: 8 scones. Classic Triangle Scones: Follow mixing directions above. Shape scones by placing dough on the baking sheet, and patting into an 8 inch circle. Cut circle into 8 wedges, separating slightly. Bake as directed. Easy Glaze: 1 cup confectioners' sugar; 2 to 3 tablespoons cream; 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or; 2 teaspoons lemon zest. Stir together; drizzle over warm scones.
