Cooking Directions on the Stove: 1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil (Cooking Measurement Chart: 5 Servings (3/4 Cup Cooked): 1 cup rice; 2-1/2 cups water; Makes 3-1/2 cups (cups cooked). 9 Servings (3/4 Cup Cooked): 2 cups rice; 5 cups water; Makes 7 cups (cups cooked). 14 Servings (3/4 Cup Cooked): 3 cups rice; 7-1/2 cups water; Makes 10-1/2 cups (cups cooked)). 2. Stir in rice (Add 1 Tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired). 3. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Cooking Directions in the Microwave (It is recommended that only 1 cup rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate): 1. In a 2-1/2 quart microwave-safe dish, combine 3 cups water and 1 cup brown rice (Add 1 Tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired). 2. Microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes. Reduce power to 50%, microwave uncovered for 20 minutes. Allow rice to sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Do not add salt or butter/margarine to the rice until after the rice is cooked. Brown Rice Storage: For longer shelf life we recommend storing brown rice in the refrigerator or freezer.
