Texas Gumbo, Spicy
Est. 2012. Go Texan. Serves 1. Our story we'll come right out and say it: family. That's George and Rubie's favourites m not-so-secret ingredient. Our re-imagining of a Louisiana favorite started in our own kitchen. And it started by accident. Frijoles charros (a.K.A. cowboy beans) and Tejano-style rice are a staple in the Hispanic Texan home-and in our home. One afternoon, we created something that was remarkably reminiscent of gumbo-yet. Remarkably different and distinctly Texan. The base was beans. The heat was jalapeño. And yes, there was cilantro, y'all. We had Texas gumbo in our bowls and suddenly, the business aspiration of George and Rubie’s favorites on our minds. We set out to get our creation to grocery store shelves, and then the call came: we are in! Today, we're proud to share our recipe and a bit of ourselves with you. With faith, family, and a whole lot of Texas flavor, we think we've made the best Texas tastin' gumbo you'll ever have. Keep reaching for your dreams, and when in doubt, add a side of cornbread.
